LHS 2000 Grad
Takes "Give Back" Message to Heart
Preparing to wrap up his high school career, Josh Baldwin, HLS Class of 2000, vividly remembers a message that was presented to him and his classmates. "Give Back when you are able." The message was delivered from high school administrators and counselors informing the seniors about where the scholarship funds they had just been awarded came from - donors, individuals, families, and organizations that believe in the power of education and the importance of supporting youth. He has never forgotten that message.
Josh donated $20,000 in November '16 to Give BIG Lexington to help permanently endow the LHS Alumni Scholarship created by the LEXINGTON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. He only agreed to be recognized for the gift if it was his message, rather than the gift, that was recognized.
In his note to the Foundation Josh states, "I still have a lot of love and respect for the faculty and staff that helped me achieve everything about who I am today. After completing my doctorate in 25 years, some of the best teachers I ever had the opportunity to learn from came from and are currently employed with LHS; I say that with all my heart!
"I discovered the power that comes from helping others. Give to those that will build a better future for everyone." This is Josh Baldwin's message to all of us.
